Proper dryer vent installation is critical to dryer safety and efficiency. “Dryer vents should be as short as possible and contain few bends and turns which can inhibit venting and cause lint to build up and clog the vent,” said Lavalle. “Smooth inside is also important. Dryer vent sections should be joined with foil tape instead of sheet metal screws which protrude to the inside, catching and trapping lint.”
