Charlotte Dryer Vent Cleaning Wizard Promotes Dryer Fire Prevention

BEFORE AND AFTER CLEANING PICTURES

Most dryer related fires are caused by failure to maintain the dryer vent system. Dryer vent cleaning is the number one defense against dryer fires

David Lavalle provides dryer vent cleaning and professional dryer vent installation for homes and businesses in the Charlotte, NC area. During a recent interview, Dave said, “Over 15,000 clothes dryer fires are reported annually. Dryer vent cleaning is recommended at least once a year to prevent dryer fires and reduce energy costs.”

Dave explained how lint builds up in dryer ducts, “Only about 60% of lint from tumbling laundry is caught in the lint screen; the rest escapes into the dryer ducts. The main function of a dryer vent system is to carry heat and moisture from your home. Though some lint can make its way outside most of the lint that is in the dryer duct system remains there until it is cleaned out.”

David Lavalle services Mecklenburg County, providing Dryer vent cleaning, repair and installation while educating his customers on dryer fire safety and proper maintenance to keep clothes dryers operating safely and efficiently. Manufacturers recommend professional dryer vent cleaning annually.

A real pet lover, Dave Lavalle was recently upset to hear that dryer vent cleaning would have prevented a recent fire in an animal shelter in California where 15 cats waiting to be adopted were killed. The good news is that Dave inspects and cleans the dryer vent exhaust lines at two of Charlotte's animal shelters every six months.

The incident brought to mind two other dryer fires that occurred in the Charlotte area earlier this year in Mint Hill and the Ballantyne area. Luckily there were no deaths or injurers in these cases.

Dave Lavalle, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard of Charlotte says these tragedies could have easily been prevented. He recommends dryer vent cleaning every year or two for average households.

Those who have multiple pets, children involved in sports or many children will need dryer vent cleaning performed more often. Dave stated that because he has 10 children his wife is always doing laundry. “Please know that pet hair is a very problematic material inside the dryer vents, it almost always causes complete obstruction of the vent because pet hair removed from clothes and towels can be even more abundant than lint. Pet hair tends to weave itself and cause very hard blockages.” Dave explained.

Dave knows first-hand the effects of pet hair in a dryer vent system because he routinely provides dryer vent cleaning in vet offices, pet salons, animal shelters and homes with multiple pets.

Dave reminds everyone to have their dryer vents inspected by a professional dryer vent installation technician often, to be sure they are not clogged with lint, dust and animal hair. “Our services ensure your clothes dryer is operating safely and efficiently,” said Lavalle.
