Charlotte, NC Dryer Vent Wizard Promotes National Fire Prevention Month

Dryer vent cleaning Wizards across the nation are promoting National Fire Prevention Month while providing an essential home maintenance service. Dryer Vent Wizard supports the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), as they work toward a common goal to make clothes dryers in their community safer and greener.

Dave Lavalle owns Dryer Vent Wizard of Mecklenburg County North Carolina. “Many people believe it is normal for their dryer to take more than one cycle to dry a load of laundry,” said Lavalle. “They don’t realize this is a warning sign indicating a serious fire hazard.”

During National Fire Prevention Month in October, franchisees are encouraged to update their blogs and write new articles to inform the public of the dangers that could be lurking in their laundry room.

According to the U.S. Fire Administration over 15,000 dryer fires occur annually, causing death, injury and property damage. “Failure to clean dryer vents” was citied as the leading factor contributing to clothes dryer fires in residential buildings.

In joining efforts with the NFPA for Fire Prevention month Dryer Vent Cleaning Wizard of Charlotte is providing the following advice to consumers to reduce the risk of dryer fires.

• Make sure your dryer vent system meets current safety standards
• Replace all plastic or flexible foil dryer vent tubes with semi-rigid or solid metal venting.
• Clean the lint screen after every load of laundry
• Wash lint screens with soap and water every few months to remove residue left behind by fabric softeners.
• Order dryer vent cleaning and dryer vent inspections annually
• Do not store combustibles like chemical cleaning products or chemical laden rags near dryers.

Warning signs of a clogged dryer vent system include clothes taking more than one cycle to dry, clothes being hot to the touch after a dry cycle, clothes have a moldy smell when removed from the dryer, the top of the dryer is hot to the touch or the dryer repeatedly shutting off during the dry cycle. “All of these symptoms indicate a blockage in air-flow,” said Lavalle. “Your clothes dryer will last a very long time if the dryer vent system is properly maintained. None of these are indications that your clothes dryer is worn out. Dryer vent cleaning and dryer vent repair cures most dryer malfunctions.”

Charlotte, NC Dryer Vent Installer Warns Consumers to be Careful what they Store near the Dryer

Charlotte, NC – Dryer vent installation technician, Dave Lavalle is working to promote public awareness on dryer fire prevention through annual dryer vent cleaning and proper dryer vent installation. Customer education is an important part of Dave’s service as he provides valuable tips while performing an essential home maintenance service.

During a recent inspection of a dryer vent system Dave noticed the excess clutter in the laundry area. “The customer’s home was very neat and tidy; however, like many people, the utility room also serves as a storage area,” said Lavalle. “There was a stack of cardboard boxes and other combustibles close to the dryer. If a dryer fire were to happen, the surrounding combustible items would ignite and fuel the flames for a rapidly spreading fire.”

Dave Lavalle owns Dryer Vent Wizard of Charlotte/ Mecklenburg, specializing in dryer vent systems and consumer education. With 30 years experience in home service, Lavalle recognized a great need to increase consumer awareness on the importance of dryer vent cleaning and proper dryer vent installation.

Consumers Trust the Charlotte Dryer Vent Installation Wizard to Meet Current Safety Codes

This picture from a Sardis Rd. home in Charlotte shows just how backed up the lint is because of non-code venting material.

Dryer vent installation and safety codes have been updated over the years; are you sure your dryer vent system is compliant with current safety codes?

Charlotte , NC – Dryer vent installation Mecklenburg technicians are advising consumers to use only solid metal venting material for their dryer ducts. Those who still have the old vinyl, plastic or flexible foil duct attached to the back of their clothes dryer could be in danger of having a dryer fire.

Dave Lavalle, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard, is passionate about educating consumers about dryer vent cleaning and proper dryer vent installation. Many of his customers believe their clothes dryer is wearing out when drying time increases. When left unchecked, the dryer will over heat and the laundry room will become excessively hot and humid. This is a warning sign indicating a fire hazard.

Dave advises his customers that increased drying time is a sure sign of lint build up in the dryer exhaust ducts. “This is a serious fire hazard,” said Dave. “Lint is flammable; a small spark from inside the dryer will cause it to ignite. The old vinyl or plastic dryer duct material will add fuel for the fire to spread.” Professional dryer vent installation ensures dryers are vented properly.

Over 15,000 dryer fires are reported annually, with failure to clean dryer vents cited as the number one cause. In joining efforts with the NFPA and American Red Cross, Dryer Vent Wizard technicians educate consumers as they perform a very important service.

Dryer Vent Wizard is a member of the National Fire Protection Association and the largest chain of dryer vent cleaning, repair and installation specialists in the U.S. with over 50 franchisees in major markets.
