Dryer Vent Cleaning Huntersville, NC

Huntersville, NC May 3, 2010

This picture is from a Huntersville's home at Highland Creek that had been vacant for over a year. The birds had nested so deeply in the vent that their nesting material made it all the way down the wall and to the back of the dryer. The birds also pecked away most of the vent cover and broke the venting pipe. But after a few hours of work and a bird proof vent cover, Dryer Vent Wizard had it all back at it should be.

Dryer vent cleaning business picks up in the Spring time when people are doing their annual spring cleaning. Dryer vent cleaning is recommended annually…it doesn’t matter what time of year it is done, as long as it gets done. Dave Lavalle, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard of Charlotte, NC notices how business tends to pick up more in the Spring time.

Dave said, “More people are having their dryer vent system inspected and cleaned in the spring time, once they have recovered from winter time heating bills and holiday expenses,” said Lavalle. “There is no right or wrong time to clean dryer vents. Over 15,000 dryer fires are reported annually, most of them are caused by failure to clean dryer vents, and they happen at all times of the year.” In fact there were two dryer fires within Mecklenburg County in April.

Dave Lavalle advises his customers to watch for warning signs that their dryer vent system is compromised, such as, when a dryer takes longer than 45 minutes to dry a load of laundry. Other signs include the room becoming unusually hot and humid when the dryer is running or when clothes or the dryer is hot to touch during a cycle.

Homeowners should check the dryer vent on the outside of their home to be sure it is working properly. “You should be able to see the exhaust coming out when the dryer is running,” said Buie. “The vent flaps should be open when the dryer is running and closed when it is not. Check for damage, cracks, or evidence that small animals may have entered.”

Dave Lavalle began his dryer vent cleaning career on August 12, 2004, serving the Boston, MA area. In 2006 Dave move to Charlotte, NC with his wife Lynne and 9 of their 10 children. Dave Lavalle now provides dryer vent cleaning, repair and installation for homes and businesses within Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, Davidson, Huntersville, Cornelius, Mint Hill, Matthews, Pineville.

Charlotte, NC -- Dryer vent cleaning promotes proper air-flow to improve the efficiency of your clothes dryer and prevent dryer fires. Dryer vent cleaning saves Americans hundreds of dollars annually on energy bills while eliminating a potential fire hazard.

Dave Lavalle, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard of Charlotte, explains why Dryer vent cleaning is so important. “As your dryer vent system becomes clogged with lint and other debris, drying time increases. If you notice your dryer taking more than one cycle to properly dry your laundry, lint build-up is most likely the cause. As drying time increases and your dryer continues to labor, the system becomes overheated. Hot air and moisture cannot escape through clogged vents. This increases energy consumption while eventually leading to a fire.”

Dave has noticed that many people think their dryer is old and worn out when drying time increases. Dave explains this common misconception to all his customers. “Don’t be fooled by the idea that the dryer is old and wearing out; this is rarely, if ever, the cause of this type of problem. When air flow is restricted the moist heat cannot escape the dryer drum; therefore, it would make sense that the clothes would not dry. In fact, on average six to ten of my customers' per month replace a perfectly good clothes dryer when a dryer vent cleaning would have do the job.”

Dryer Vent Wizard technicians are dryer exhaust specialists who provide an important service while educating customers on how their dryer vent system works. Dave Lavalle has seen a variety of dryer vent systems. “Some dryers are located on an outside wall and have a very short dryer duct; others might be located upstairs, in the middle of the home, in a closet or hallway. These dryers will have very long ducts with one or more turns and they might be vented through the roof.”

A professional who specializes in dryer vent cleaning will have the tools needed to access all areas of a dryer vent system. Dryer vent cleaning is recommended annually to prevent dryer fires and save energy. Dave Lavalle provides dryer vent cleaning, repair and installation for homes and businesses in Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, Huntersville, Matthews, Pineville, Cornelius, Lake Norman, South Park, Ballantyne and neighboring cities and communities. 28202, 28203, 28204, 28205, 28206, 28207, 28208, 28209, 28210, 28211, 28212, 28213, 28214, 28215, 28216, 28217, 28223, 28226, 28035, 28036, 28025, 28027, 28078, 28134, 28031, 28144, 28146, 28147.

Charlotte dryer vent cleaning

The pictures are before and after pictures from an old plastic dryer vent in Matthews, NC that broke within the wall and had been leaking lint in the wall.
Charlotte, NC – Dryer vent cleaning is the only cure when clothes dryers work inefficiently. It is not normal for an older dryer to take several cycles to properly dry clothes. Many people think this is the case when their dryers are not working as well as they did when they were new. They think that as long as the lint screen is free of lint, the inefficiency must be due to the age of the dryer.

Dave Lavalle of Dryer Vent Wizard wants consumers to be aware that age and wear is rarely the cause of longer drying times. This us usually a sign of lint build-up in the dryer vent system. Other warning signs include no lint on the lint screen after a cycle, excess lint on clothes, clothes come out with a moldy smell or are very hot.

Dryer vent cleaning provides efficient air flow to take heat and moisture out of your home. Clogged dryer vents cause the dryer to run hotter and longer, eventually causing severe damage to the dryer and leading to a fire hazard. In addition, poor venting results in excess moisture in the air, causing mold and mildew damage and mold related illness to sensitive residents. Gas dryers require proper ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety commission estimates that over 15,000 fires are associated with clothes dryers each year, accounting for an average of 10 deaths and 310 injuries along with millions in property damage. This number has dropped about 35% from the 24,000 annual fires in the late 1970’s. Dryer Vent Wizard is working to decrease these numbers by increasing public awareness of the dangers of clogged dryer vent systems.

Dryer Vent Wizard, Dry Clothes Safe Homes is a member of the National Fire Protection Association and the largest chain of Dryer vent cleaning, repair, replacement and alternation specialists in the U.S. with nearly 50 franchisees in major markets in the U.S. Visit http://www.dryerventwizard.com for more information.

The Charlotte Dryer Vent Cleaning Wizard urges Property Managers to Clean Dryer Vents

Foil venting is not up to code and can cut off air flow because it is too soft. Metal venting, as seen in this picture creates better air flow by holding its shape.

Dryer vent cleaning is the number one way to prevent dryer related fires. Most dryer fires are caused by failure to clean dryer vents. Dryer vent cleaning also promotes maximum dryer performance while extending the life of the appliance.

Dryer vent cleaning is often overlooked by homeowners, especially if they have never experienced a problem. Homeowners are responsible for taking care of their own home and maintaining their own appliances. But what about tenants who live in multi-unit apartment buildings and attached condos?

Dave Lavalle, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard, dryer vent cleaning Charlotte, NC said, “Dryer Related fires are especially devastating when they occur in multi-unit apartment buildings. It only takes one clogged dryer vent to leave many families homeless. Worse yet, more lives are at risk in apartment building fires. People get hurt or lose their lives; family pets are killed; residents lose their home and possessions.”

Dryer Vent Wizard technicians are well-known for their expertise in dryer vent services. In addition, they also provide tips for consumers to ensure dryer safety and dryer efficiency. Dave Lavalle likes to blogs to promote public awareness on the importance of dryer vent maintenance.

Dave Lavalle advises people who live in attached condos or multi-unit buildings to talk to their neighbors about the importance of dryer vent cleaning and proper dryer vent installation. “In most cases, this is really the landlord’s responsibility,” said Smith. “However, many property managers do not give dryer vents a thought until they experience a loss due to a dryer fire.”

Dave Lavalle is franchise owner/operator of Dryer Vent Wizard of Charlotte, Dry Clothes, Safe Homes, a home service franchise based off of Johnston Rd in South Charlotte, NC. Dave advises property managers to have their dryer vent systems inspected to be sure they are properly installed and maintained.
